USATF So Cal Recap
Open Women: Grace Graham-Zamudio (Cal Coast) finished 5th and made the US team for the Pan Am XC Cup in Victoria, BC on February 29. With six qualifying spots, Calene Morris (The Janes) narrowly missed, however with the U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon being held the same day, if two athletes ahead of her elect to run in the trials, she could get the opportunity, and is probably an alternate. Andrea Condie (unat) finished 19th.
Open Men: Joshua Espinoza (Cal Coast) made a strong showing in 20th place.
Masters Men: Southern California was well represented with the M40 and overall winner by 43 seconds, Jacques Sallberg (Cal Coast); the first M50 was Craig Godwin, formerly of Southern California, now in Oregon. Second M50 was Christian Cushing-Murray (Cal Coast). The first M70 was Ignacio (Nash) Jimenez from Santa Barbara and the only M90 competitor was the newly elected Masters Hall of Famer, Gunnar Lunde (Santa Monica TC). The Cal Coast juggernaut took the Masters team title, with their B team finishing 7th.
Masters Women: Southern California took 5 of the top 10 finishers. The Janes Elite Racing beat Team Nash (coached by the aforementioned Nash Jimenez) for a 1-2 Southern Californian finish.
