Jonathan Grey Scholarship Fund

August 21, 2018 by webmaster

The Jonathan Grey Scholarship Fund is in partnership with the Boulder Track Club, Team USA Minnesota and Twin Cities In Motion.

The scholarship fund is designed for one male and female distance runner under the age of 25 years, who has found the transition of graduating from collegiate athlete to professional athlete, difficult in terms of access to coaching, sponsorships and elite race entry. Team USA Minnesota and Boulder Track Club in a joint collaboration with Twin Cities In Motion, want to help make a difference in a young athletes’ life by giving them an opportunity to compete at this year’s Medtronic TC 10 Mile without the financial hardships associated with it and it is hoped that this opportunity will lead to the start of bigger and better things.

One of our members reported receiving the following scam GoFundMe donation request that included a USATF logo. Please be careful and confirm any requests that you receive.

Scam GoFundMe Request

Crystal would like you to support Help Support Charles
by making a donation and helping spread the word.
I’m trying to raise $15,000
$6,750 RAISED / 18 SUPPORTERS / 18 DAYS LEFT

“Charles is a 3 year old boy who desperately needs your help. In March 2018, Charles was diagnosed with a rare disease known as Cholesteatoma, which causes a tumor to grow behind his ear drum.

This life threatening tumor is growing daily and needs to be operated on urgently before it eventually grows into his brain. A pioneering operation costing $15,000 is available privately, we have been able to raise $6,750 but we still need $8,250. This operation will not only lasers the tumor away, but it will also reduce the risk of Charles needing further treatment.

Charles wants to be a doctor when he grows up. Please help us raise the money for Charles operation so that he can live a normal, healthy life and fulfill his dream.

Please share your prayers and financial support to encourage Charles in this battle. Every dollar counts and any amount donated will be highly appreciated.”
