Next Road Running Grand Prix Race: Dick’s Brentwood Run 5K, May 29, 2011

Join your fellow USATF runners on Sunday, March 29, in beautiful Brentwood for the popular Brentwood 5K! This is one of the fastest 5K courses around, and is a great oppotunity for the LA Marathon runners to take a break from distance training and to get some speed back in their legs!   • Less than two weeks before the 2011 LA Marathon! USATF members win free LA Kings Hockey Tickets!

    USATF is giving away TWO pairs of tickets to two USATF members who have registered for the 2011 Honda LA Marathon Presented by K-Swiss! Send your name and LA Marathon bib number to [email protected] by Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 11:59 pm. Winners will be announced at 5 pm on Wednesday, March 9. The exciting March 17 game is between the LA Kings and St. Louis Blues.

  • Brea 8K Grand Prix Scores Online Now! The Janes take 1st place followed by Club Ed Running and Cal Coast!

    Results have been posted for the Brea 8K! If you do not see your results, or see any errors, please email [email protected] and we will post corrections. The Brea 8K went very well, with a huge USATF turnout. Daniel Rojas (M-28) and Cheryl Smith (F-30) won with times of 24:44 and 27:47 respectively. In the masters division Christian Cushing-Murray (M-43)and Kirsten Leetch (F-45) finished in 26:29 and 29:20. The Janes edged out Club Ed Running in the team competition for the Brea 8K 4198 to 4189. But Club Ed still holds the overall lead with a total of 8420 compared to 8364 for The Janes. Cal Coast Track Club continues to hold a strong third place position with a score of 8012.

  • LA Marathon USATF Friends and Family Support Stop at the John Fawcett Union Service Station, San Vicente and 26th Street

    John Fawcett, the owner of the Union 76 service station at 26th and San Vicente has generously offered to host USATF on LA Marathon day, March 20. At less than three miles from the finish of the LA Marathon, join us to cheer to on marathon runners as they hit the final downhill stretch before the big finish near the Santa Monica pier. There will be a DJ, music, food, and a festive atmosphere to raise the spirits of spectators and runners! Everyone is welcome!

  • 02-27 Brea 8K! Save $10! Online Registration Closes 2-23 11:59 pm. REGISTER NOW!: Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the amazing Brea 8K Classic!   • LA Kings Tickets for the Top USATF Runners at the Brea 8K! The top male and female USATF finishers at the Brea 8K will win TWO tickets each to the exciting March 17 game between the LA Kings and St. Louis Blues. The LA Kings will be featuring USATF at the March 17 game, and everyone attending this game will have the opportunity to meet 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist Stacy Dragila and her husband Ian Waltz, 2008 Olympic Competitor. These two USATF members are generously giving their time to help support USA Track&Field in Southern California!
  • 2011 Honda LA Marathon Presented by K-Swiss Headed for Second Straight Sellout! Time is running out for runners who want to participate in the 2011 Honda LA Marathon presented by K-Swiss. For the second straight year, registration for the March 20 race is on pace for a sellout well before race day. Already, nearly 20,000 runners have registered for the 2011 race which is set to take place on Sunday, March 20.
  • Redondo Beach 5 km Grand Prix Results: Thanks so much to the runners who emailed their results for Redondo Beach 5 km. We have the final results at the Grand Prix website. Medal awards have been delayed while we added additional runners. We also have video interviews with Humberto Sanchez and Tania Fischer, plus photos from the Redondo Beach 5K! 

“Last year’s race sold out for the first time in many years,” said LA MARATHON LLC chief operating officer Nick Curl. “And given the numbers we’e seeing now, and the increased pace of registrations, we’re letting the running public know it’s time to sign up now to secure your place in the 2011 marathon.”


Last year’s race featured a record 26,054 registrants and registration was closed on March 12, nine days before the event. “We may be ahead of that schedule this year, so it’s important to sign up now in order to avoid being shut out,” Curl said.
